Welcome to our special series celebrating the exceptional individuals who make up the Digital Education Awards Judges Panel.


Today, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Andy Lumley, Head of Learning Technology at MEI (Mathematics. Education. Innovation.), a leading UK maths charity dedicated to advancing mathematical education through innovation.


With over two decades of experience as a secondary school maths teacher in the UK and New Zealand, Andy has always been at the forefront of educational technology. As an early adopter of EdTech in the classroom, he served as EdTech lead in two schools and holds credentials including Google Certified Educator Level 2, Certified Google Trainer, and Microsoft Certified Educator.


Since joining MEI in 2001, Andy has led the development and delivery of Integral, MEI’s flagship online learning platform for A-level Maths and Further Maths. His work ensures that thousands of students and teachers have access to high-quality, interactive learning resources grounded in sound pedagogy and innovation.


Beyond his leadership at MEI, Andy co-hosts the popular podcast Digging For The Why, where he explores the deeper thinking behind maths education and champions approaches that foster deeper understanding.


Andy brings to our judging panel a unique combination of hands-on teaching expertise, technological leadership, and a passion for meaningful educational change. His commitment to driving forward innovation in digital education makes him a vital voice in shaping the future of learning.
